Are you feeling overwhelmed or stagnant in your life right now? One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned in my own life is you need to constantly let go of what no longer serves you to make space for what is waiting for you. We are continually evolving, outgrowing and re-emerging. If this is resonating with you, I invite you to join me in some of clearing practices. Here’s your comprehensive guide to making room for what’s next in your life.
Clear Your Body
Work from the inside out to give your mind and body the space it needs to rest, recover, and rejuvenate.
- Commit to a 24-hour social media and news detox. Use this time for self-reflection, meditation, and reading – right now I’m loving Good Energy by Casey Means. Notice how your mind feels clearer without constant input and journal what’s coming up for you. Some questions to explore:
- What and who do I want to let go of?
- What am I holding onto for fear that nothing will come to take its place?
- What emotions arise when I sit in silence?
- Engage in conscious breathwork, including box breathing. Box Breathing is a technique where you inhale for 4, hold for for, exhale for 4 and hold for 4. Want to hear more and try it out for yourself? Come check out my TraceyTV and do it with me here
- Nourish your body by limiting processed foods, increasing whole foods, fruits, and vegetables, hydrating and getting into nature and sunshine daily
- Support your body’s natural detoxification with dry brushing for lymphatic flow, epsom salt baths with essential oils and infrared sauna sessions if available
If you’re looking to go deeper into physical cleansing, consider a mindful fast (always consult your healthcare provider first). This can be a powerful reset for both body and mind.
With your mind and body refreshed, let’s turn to our digital lives to make space for mental clarity and reduce unnecessary distractions.
Clear Your Digital Space
In our increasingly digital world, electronic clutter can be just as stifling as physical mess.
- Delete unused apps to free up digital space for new energy and clean your laptop, keyboards, phone screen, and case to get rid of old energy
- Unfollow social media accounts that drain you—create room for what truly aligns. I cannot stress this enough, stop following negativity! Take a moment to notice: Which accounts make you feel energized, and which leave you feeling depleted?
- Organize your inbox—clear out old emails and unsubscribe from unnecessary newsletters (hopefully not mine!)
- Back up important files and delete duplicates
- Reorganize your photos—archive or delete, keeping only what’s meaningful
- If you use the notes app, go delete old notes
As you streamline your digital spaces, you’re creating room for mental peace. Now, let’s look at how your physical space can also support your intentions.
Clear Your Physical Space
Physical clutter can and will stagnate energy and block new opportunities.
- Sweep and clean your home’s entryway and mudrooms—energetically clear the path for what’s coming
- Use non-toxic cleaners with essential oils to not only clean but infuse your space with healing ingredients
- Clean and organize your workspace and declutter desks and drawers, or any area that holds energy. If you’re looking for a new partner or business opportunity, leave a deliberate space open for the opportunity to fill
- Create a dedicated area for new projects or activities
- Do a deep declutter of your living space, focusing on one area at a time
- Clear out your wallet or purse—remove old receipts, expired cards, old makeup
With a clearer physical environment, you’re ready to turn inward and focus on clearing your energetic and emotional space.
Clear Your Energetic and Emotional Space
Start by making your newly cleaned space sacred to intentionally invite in good energy. I love to smudge with sage, palo santo, or cedar and place crystals in spots around my home. Open windows regularly to release stagnant energy.
Consider creating a dedicated meditation and prayer space and work on building a daily mindfulness practice. Remember! The only way to clear out old thought patterns is to notice them. Journal to process thoughts and emotions that come up. Here are some powerful questions to explore:
- “What’s something I really want, but I catch myself saying ‘I can’t because…’ or ‘That’s not possible for me because…'”
- “When I imagine myself being wildly successful, what fears or doubts immediately pop up?”
- “What do I think I ‘should’ be doing right now? What rules am I living by that are getting in the way of my happiness?”
Other practices to explore:
- Set limits on social media consumption. You get to decide how much time you spend on your phone.
- Schedule “being” time where you allow yourself to simply … exist. Can you get outside into nature more?
- Begin releasing relationships that no longer serve you. This can be some of our hardest work, but people who drain your energy and negatively impact your mental well-being are bringing you down
- Process and let go of past disappointments. Letting go and practicing forgiveness are top-tier acts of self-care
- Work through limiting beliefs that arise during your journaling practice

Final Thoughts
We are constantly going through seasons where we need to let go of the old to bring in the new. You can revisit these practices whenever they speak to you. As you clear space in your life—whether digital, physical, or spiritual—you create room for new opportunities, relationships, and experiences to enter.
The most important aspect of space clearing is intention. Before beginning any clearing practice, take a moment to center yourself and set clear intentions for what you’re making space for. This mindful approach ensures that your clearing practices align with your goals and desires for the future.
As you implement these practices, pay attention to how you feel. Notice the lightness that comes with clearing space, and let that feeling guide you toward maintaining these practices as part of your regular routine. Consider revisiting your journal entries along the way to reflect on the shifts you’ve made, reinforcing your progress. And if you need professional help, seek it! We aren’t meant to do all of this alone.
I’m curious … what space will you clear first?
