3 Tips for TikTok Beginners
3 tips for tiktok beginners

Over the past year, I’ve been getting the hang of TikTok, and I want to share some of my tips with you. You can use TikTok to build your personal brand or online business, promote your business or just have fun creatively. It’s not just for the youngsters out there!

Have fun doing it and stop overthinking things!

The cool thing about any social media platform is creating videos through which people get to know you, like you, and trust you. Platforms such as TikTok allow you to build relationships that lead to so many opportunities if you are strategic about it.

A few months ago I did a TikTok 101 tutorial and invite you to watch it here.

3 Tips for TikTok Beginners

1- Create a TikTok professional, personally branded account

Create an account that makes sense and use your actual name. Don’t create some weird names with a gazillion of numbers in it. Add a picture and make your account public. Your account needs to be public if you want to grow and connect with other people.

2- Be intentional about your viewing

On most of our social media, we get things pushed at us. So, being super intentional is important. Set a timer for 15 minutes and scroll through your feed, click on what you are interested in, add to favorites, and press not interested.

  • If you like something, you’re going to press the like button.
  • If you want to save it for later or you think that this might be something you’d like to copy or get inspired by, press add to favorites

If you are not interested in it at all, press down on it = not interested.

This process is very important for your feed so that you receive content you are inspired by, entertained by, and most importantly, that you can use as inspiration for your own content. You want to get rid of the things that you are not interested in. TikTok is one big algorithm. Once you press not interested, the algorithms won’t send you that kind of content anymore.

3- Start to think about getting started

The beauty of TikTok is that you can save batched content in your draft folder. You can play around, have fun and create some content without posting it. Get comfortable at first. However, I would encourage you to start posting your content, because we all overthink what everyone else is thinking about us too much.

In TikTok, you can create your own original content and at the same time borrow, leverage, and get inspired by what other people have done very effectively.

Bonus Tip

If you are using Instagram Reels, I would suggest creating your content in TikTok first and then share it as an IG Reel. The process is much easier and smoother than the other way around.

This is it, folks,
Tiktok is a fun platform to be on and create a different kind of content for your business. Create your own original content and at the same time borrow, leverage, and get inspired by what other people have done very effectively.

I hope this inspired you to get started creating your own short videos on TikTok, and remember, don’t overthink it, just do it and have fun!
