As someone navigating menopause and coaching clients through this season of life, I’ve found these resources invaluable. This isn’t an exhaustive list, but rather my personal go-to sources that I trust. Remember: you don’t need to become a menopause expert; you just need to be educated and work with practitioners who stay current with the latest science.

Books & Educational Resources

  • Dr. Mary Claire Haver – A practicing Ob/Gyn who’s experiencing menopause herself. Dr. Haver advocates for evidence-based hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and challenges outdated medical perspectives. Her book The New Menopause is a bible for anyone in perimenopause or menopause, and her website has endless resources including supplements and a directory of providers in your area. Her social media is a godsend.
  • Estrogen Matters: Why Taking Hormones in Menopause Can Improve and Lengthen Women’s Lives – Without Raising the Risk of Breast Cancer (Updated Edition, 2024) – This newly revised edition by Bluming and Tavris examines the science behind HRT, debunking common myths about breast cancer risks. The authors provide a balanced analysis of the Women’s Health Initiative study and present current evidence supporting HRT’s safety and benefits for most menopausal women.
  • Dr. Amy Killen – A longevity and regenerative physician specializing in anti-aging and the role menopause and HRT plays in that journey.
