Let’s have a look at how you can optimize your Instagram (or any other social media bio) to attract your dream clients!
There are five things you need to think about when writing your Instagram bio:
- Everything in your bio is searchable, so use words wisely
- Tell people what they should listen to you
- Be clear on who you’re helping
- Be clear on how you help
- Tell people where they can find more information
Breaking It Down
Now that you know what your Instagram bio needs, there are a number of different ways to do this. One of the most popular ways is to try to bullet out this information so that if someone is scanning social media, they can get a quick understanding of who you are. Remember, confused people do nothing.
Make it easy for people to know
- who you are
- if you’re the right fit
- how you can help
If you’re not clear, people aren’t going to follow you because they don’t know that you’re for them. You’ve got to tell them!
Let’s use my Instagram bio as an example:

So, what am I telling people?
What do I do?
- I work with social sellers.
What do I do with them?
- I help them get better at their attraction, marketing, and branding on social media. I also have a podcast that I want people to listen to and then I have a link to all of my things.
I’m covering all of the bases there. So when people look at this, they say: okay, I know who she is; she’s into wellness, she’s an entrepreneur, she coaches people on how to get better at branding and social media.
It’s on You
Remember, it’s on you to figure out how to explain why people should listen to you, who you’re talking to, how you help them, and how they can get in touch with you. Don’t forget to add a link for more information.
Now, if you’re reading this and you’re saying: “Tracey, I don’t make six figures. I didn’t make five figures yet! I didn’t grow my Instagram”; Here is my advice: speak authentically about who you are. You can say something like: mom turned entrepreneur sharing her best secrets or mompreneur sharing tips that I’m learning along the way. You can take people on your journey.
Make sure that you are clear and that your content delivers on the promise.
