Are you anti-niche? Do you feel if you niche down in your business, you might lose out on some opportunities?
I understand the fear, but having worked on hundreds of campaigns for some of top brands in the world, I want you to hear this: If you are talking to everyone, you are talking to no one.
If it’s not clear in your social media feed WHO you are talking to and HOW you can help them, you will lose more people to confusion than you will to niching down.
The purpose of social media, when it comes to your business is to:
- Create authentic connections with your target audience
- Have conversations that grow your business
- Allow people to find you
As a social seller, your job on social media is to connect with an always-growing audience. Your friends already know who you are, so I want you to really focus on the new person, and ask yourself: how can I quickly build the know-like-trust factor?
Note: Use your stories to share more about yourself. It’s a perfect place for people to get to know you personally after they’ve decided to follow you.
The Confused Consumer Does Nothing
When your social media feed is unclear, it creates confusion. Do you know what a confused consumer or prospect does? NOTHING. Confused people do nothing, they walk away. And that’s why you need to niche down.
Building a purposeful, focused social media strategy creates clarity and builds trust. I want you to think about the feeds that you love the most. Do you know why you love the feeds? Do you feel confident that you will get value from their content? That’s the goal! If you’re trying to help everyone, you’ve spread yourself too thin.
Get More Specific
The more focused you become on your personal brand and your target audience, the more you’ll resonate with the right person when they find you. There is an abundance of people out there and if you get specific, you’re telling the universe: “These are the kind of people I want to be connected with, help me find these people.”
When you become more specific, your content also becomes better. Because you’re looking through the lens of “does this content relate to my niche and my audience?”.
Lastly, all of the social media platforms that you’re on are enormous. There is no shortage of humans to connect with, and you’re going to find more of your people if you narrow down. The more specific you get, the more clarity you get, and the more you can focus. You start to become friends with more of those people. You can not get focused on this stuff until you get focused on your niche.
Hopefully, this has sparked some curiosity in you! As always, I would love to get some feedback and hear your thoughts on this topic.
Next week I am diving into the subject of Magnetic Marketing! The topic will be hacks for finding magnetic marketing content. So, don’t miss it!
In the meantime, remember, you are magnetic and people are waiting to hear what you have to say.
Until next time,
Tracey.
